Even during his degree, Matthias Büttner was occupied by the idea of developing an organiser that has the advantages of a bound calendar combined with those of a loose leaf diary. It was almost self-evident to split the bound calendar into small individual blocks and to hold these in a leather cover using a simple, easily manageable system.

Starting with a small tube as a central fixing element on the spine of the individual booklets, several different alternatives were investigated. The only usable alternative was a fixture using a spring loaded fastening mechanism on the basis of a watch pin. Simple, hand made prototypes quickly showed the feasibility of the idea in everyday life.

But before the professional development of the organiser, Matthias Büttner was working as a management consultant. Initially as an employee at the renowned consulting house IDS Scheer AG where Mr. Büttner created business graphics as a student assistant, and later independantly in his own management consultancy.

After nine years of consulting, Matthias Büttner decided, despite the economic situation, to take a risk on the company “Büttner Organiser”.

Together with a team of students, Matthias Büttner did what seemed almost impossible: The development of a new, innovate product for a saturated market. He solved the complex problem of the X47 mechanism, found a viable solution to the assembly of a metal tube to the booklets and developed a clever, efficient market concept that has been consistently developed to date.

Currently there are 12 different X47 product types, interpreted in 25 different types of leathers that are sold in five countries successfully. In 2004 he already had a sales volume of 350 000 Euros and had the potential for a global corporate network.
